The BC Weed Control Act (RSBC 1996)
The purpose of the BC Weed Control Act is to protect natural resources
and industry from the negative impact of foreign weeds.
The Act states: "Every occupier shall control, in accordance with
the regulations, noxious weeds growing or located on land and premises,
and on any other property located on land and premises, occupied by
him." This means that private landowners, private companies, utility
companies, regional districts and municipalities, and provincial government
agencies or anyone in physical possession of land all have a responsibility
to manage weeds in the province. The complete text of the Weed Control
